Amelia's Nightmare.

After Picture This!, Nigal and I formed a new band, adding a new bassist and drummer.

Although Amelia was alright, it did get a bit up-its-own-backside, which I think was mostly my fault/idea. Oh well. It was a larf, anyway.

We did one demo, which was recorded on four-track cassette and therefore sounds pretty vile, especially at the bass-y end.

I'm still quite fond of some of this material, actually.

Still Snowing - I bust my leg and learnt to play the mandolin (long story, but the two things are bizarrely connected). Anyway, Nigal and I wrote this instrumental thing one night on mandolin and acoustic guitar, and it was snowing out. It therefore had a title before it had a lyric, which turned out to be good, 'cos the lyric that was then written to fit the title turned out to be alright!

Outta My Head - A bit grim, but not bad. Lyrics suck. Good guitar stuff by Nigal, though.

Claudia - Y'know I said it got a bit...pretentious? Kirsty (the bassist) and I were both quite into Anne Rice's vampire novels at the time...you can guess the rest. Good tune, sorry lyric.

Grub - Utter freakin' nonsense, but a top laugh to play at gigs. Unfortunately, we got sick of it. Here we were, trying to write decent, literate songs (OK, we were failing at it, but we were at least trying), and all anyone ever asked us to play was "the one about the grubs". We ended up hating the bastard.

Advice - Justin the drummer wrote this beautiful, simple, clearly-stated lyric. We managed to get a short song out of it. I really like this one, and always have. Might give it a re-working sometime.
